Amir Khan Gives Up On Manny Pacquiao For Next Fight; Eyes Fellow British Boxer Instead

| By

Amir Khan's next fight is taking too long and one reason behind that is him waiting for Manny Pacquiao.

The British fighter made it known that he wants to fight his former sparring mate. However, things took ugly turn and looks like he is no longer among the frontrunners to fight the Filipino boxer.

His promoter Eddie Hearn claims his guy is no longer waiting. For Amir Khan's next fight, they are targeting fellow British fighter Kell Brook.

"Amir has now told me that he definitely wants to fight Kell in the summer," Hearn said as per report by Daily Mail. "All that remains is to settle the terms."

Hearn also revealed that they want to hold the boxing event at Wembley and they must do it soon.

"Brook fighting Khan has to happen and I put Wembley on hold," he said.

"We are now looking at something equally big and exciting. Amir knows that we need to get it done sooner rather than later now because Kell is only a couple of fights away from moving up a division to light middleweight."

Although not as interesting as what he could get from Manny Pacquiao, Kell Brook also appears as an intriguing match up for him. The two hail from similar country but it is clear they do not like each other.

Brook recently challenged Khan to an official boxing match to officially end his career.

"Are you even still fighting?" Brook tweeted. "If so just let me end your career.. for the fans?"

This post from the current IBF welterweight champion stems from Khan's statement that Brook needs to step up his game to be able get his YES.

"I did say it could happen next year, so in 2016 I think Kell will get that fight," he told Sky Sports.

"But I've always said about the opponents he's fighting and now it's a guy which I don't know much about, but he's lost [not won] three of his last four fights and that says something. Kell really needs to step up his game and fight the top guys like I'm doing."
