New Orleans has been bugged by injuries since the start of the season, including a recurring one to franchise player Anthony Davis.
Some players are stepping up for him. However, as per recent NBA trade rumors, it seems one of those guys might find himself in another team.
NBA trade rumor from Basketball Insiders says Ryan Anderson could be in the trading block.
"The Pelican player whose name surfaces the most among league sources is sharp shooting forward Ryan Anderson, but sources close to the team say that Anderson is incredibly valued inside the organization and it would take a monster offer for the Pelicans to consider moving him," the Sports Portal wrote.
"Anderson is in the final year of his deal and will be an unrestricted free agent in July, so the Pelicans may have to explore his value despite how the organization feels about him as a player and leader in the locker room."
It further said that the 27-year-old power forward is the only viable trade bait for the Western Conference team since others, who are mostly on the injured list, have high tag price.
"The Pelicans don't have a lot of attractive contracts to shop. Shooting guard Eric Gordon is at the end of his deal, but is owed $15.5 million, which may be tough to trade given his injury history," it said. "Center Omer Asik is owed roughly $60 million and might be the least attractive contract on the roster."
This will be a risky move or New Orleans Pelicans. Anderson is currently averaging 18.1 points per game, the second best in the team next to Davis. He also pulls out 6.9 rebounds per game while also dishing out 1.2 assists each night.
Pelicans are currently at 14th place in the West with 4-15 record, 3-7 in the last 10.
