An 11 year-old South Jordan, Utah girl was stuck in a washing machine for an hour and a half while playing hide and seek with her cousins KSL reported Wednesday.
"She really wanted to win," said the girl's mother, Nicole Rhoades the girl's mother to KSL. Rhoades was not at home when the incident occurred, KSL reported.
"I got there a few minutes later. My sister was already there, and together we couldn't get her out," she said. "It was kind of funny at the end of the day. Like, honestly, you're 11. What were you doing playing in a washing machine?" "She won. ... That's what I tell her. You're the best at hide-and-seek ever."
The 11 year-old year's older sister notified her mother by phone, who heard her yelling for help.
Responders to the scene tried to free the girl using butter, peanut butter, and ice, which made the girl cold. They were forced a switch to warm water KSL reported. Firefighters were called to the scene and originally figured the girl would have to be taken out by severing a hole in the middle of the washer.
They only had to take off the dryer off the washer and chop a corner in the back of the dryer so they could fully lift out the machine's door KSL reported. The 11-year-old girl was hurt, but able to function following the ordeal.
"Afterwards we laughed about it. We all laughed about it," Rhoades told NBC News reported. "But at the time it was scary."
The girl did not have to go the hospital, and kept all feeling in her legs NBC News reported. The girl did not want her face shown or name published on television KSL reported.
A teenager previously became stuck in a chimney in western Australia in December ABC News reported.
