Despite being retired, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still courted by a number of boxers.
Will he answer to one of them?
There are many serious accusations that the undefeated American fighter is not truly out of the game yet. Oscar de La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, and more are insisting he will come back.
His father is also not convinced with his son's decision. Floyd Sr. thinks his junior will return. However, if that happens, Floyd Jr. should do it soon.
"I'm not gonna say (if Floyd Jr. is truly retired), but I will hope one thing, if you ain't gonna fight within six months, leave the damn game alone," the older Mayweather told On The Ropes Boxing. "If you're not intending to fight between six months or seven at the most, then leave it alone because it ain't going nowhere."
Floyd Sr. also believes there is nothing left to prove for his son who stepped away from the sport with a 49-0 record shortly after his victory against Andere Berto on September 12.
"I don't want to see my son going out there and trying to prove something where there ain't nothing to prove," he said.
"There's nothing to prove right now, he's done it all, there's nothing left to prove. He beat everybody that's in there, he beat all the top fighters that they're talking about.Floyd beat the top fighters today, he beat all the ones that they talk about being top dogs, he beat them. The ones that he didn't fight, he can beat them too. Like I said, there is a saying that goes along with boxing, your age plays a part and you ain't got that much time to be wasting."
Will Floyd Mayweather Jr. come out of retirement? That is what almost everyone is hoping, especially those who are expecting a Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight rematch.
The Filipino boxer is expected to get on the ring again in April next year and Freddie Roach wants his guy to come out dominant to be able to get the yes of Mayweather's camp.
