The Toronto Raptors is having problems in their front court and according to NBA trade rumors, the Canadian team will address it by snatching one of the most versatile and hardworking big men in the league.
Reports have it that Raptors are looking for a trade with Chicago Bulls for the services of power forward Taj Gibson.
"Recent reports have Taj Gibson of Chicago as a possible target and while the 30-year-old is mostly known for his play off the bench, he is the kind of player that can spark a team with a tough basket in the paint or a block shot that can change the outcome of a game," Digital Journal wrote.
This is not the first time Taj Gibson was dragged into an NBA trade rumor. Two months ago, online talks speculated that Los Angeles Lakers is willing to send Brandon Bass to Chi-Town for the services of the 2009 NBA draftee.
"Chat Sports' Brian Rauf first brought out the idea of a trade involving these two undersized power forwards," Yibada wrote.
"It was reported that the Lakers had interest over Gibson for a couple of years now, but there were no opportunities for the team to really seek him out."
In Sports Illustrated's roundtable for NBA trade that is more likely to happen, it suggested that a Taj Gibson - Luis Scola trade will make sense for Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors.
Gibson has played a slightly different role under coach Fred Hoiberg. He still comes off the bench but he hasn't played more than 30 minutes so far this season. Despite the decrease in role, he still calls Hoiberg a passionate mentor.
"It's cool sometimes," Gibson told Los Angeles Times. "It's just different after being accustomed (to Thibodeau) for so many years. But it's like having trained guard dogs: Release them and they pop open.
"So far it's been great. It's just a new fresh air."
