"Prometheus 2," which is officially titled "Alien: Covenant," is nearing the start of its production and plot leaks are already starting to surface, including a report by Scified that Michael Fassbender is set to play "multiple David 8 androids."
According to Scified, it has already received leaks early this year but they dismissed many of them as fan-hype; it recently confirmed, however, rumors about Michael Fassbender portraying multiple android versions of David 8 when two Australian news agencies has already confirmed.
One of these sources was Sydney Morning Herald, which reported that Scott revealed during a press conference for "Alien: Covenant" that Fassbender would be playing two versions of David 8 android character.
Sydney Morning Herald wrote: "Confirming that Sydney would be the location for 'Alien: Covenant' on Friday, Scott said it would follow on from 2012's 'Prometheus' and would have Michael Fassbender returning as both android David and a doppelganger."
The other source, SBS.com, also wrote: "Scott said 'Alien: Covenant' will pick up from the end of 'Prometheus,' and see Fassbender playing two versions of his android character, David."
At the end of "Prometheus," Fassbender's David and Noomi Rapace's Shaw were seen taking off in one of the Engineer's ships to discover where they come from. Both Fassbender and Rapace will be returning for "Prometheus 2" or "Alien: Covenant" and in the upcoming sequel, the two, according to the official synopsis, will be treading on the world of the Engineer.
Fassbender and Rapace will be arriving in Sydney in late March or early April next year to start the 16-week shoot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Australian government has already committed a one-off grant to get the film made in Australia, which in return will contribute more than $43.3 million to the state's economy and employ more than 600 local cast and crew.
"Prometheus 2" or "Alien: Covenant," which is set to be released on October 6, 2017, will be directed by Ridley Scott and will be penned by Jack Paglen, Michael Green, and John Logan.
