Is there any chance for Nina Dobrev to return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 and rekindle her on-screen romance with ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder?
While avid fans of the vampire-themed movie would love to see Elena Gilberts return to the Mystic Falls, it seems that Ian Somerhalder has already accepted that it's not going to happen, at least not in season 7.
"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena (Nina Dobrev) was gone," he explained told Variety. "And I was one of those people. I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show. By virtue of the fact that it wasn't a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula."
Nina Dobrev, who remains tightlipped about the rumors, is reportedly very busy with her jump to the big screen.
Deadline exclusively reported that the Bulgarian-Canadian actress is now being eyed to be included in the line up for the upcoming "Baywatch" reboot.
Paul Wesley, who plays the role of Stefan Salvatore, on the other hand claimed that Elena Gilbert still plays a great role in "The Vampire Diaries."
"Elena's still a very big part of the story," Paul Wesley revealed to TV Insider. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up."
"We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she's talked about so much!" he added.
But for Nina Dobrev "The Vampire Diaries" chapter in her life has already ended.
"That chapter is closed, sadly -- bittersweet," Dobrev explained to Entertainment Weekly.
She admitted that she's on the look for more challenging roles.
"I want to do something dark and gritty," she explained to WhoWhatWear. "I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the s--t out of me."
In addition to "Baywatch" Deadline reported that Nina Dobrev is working on a movie with "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams, called, "Arrivals."
