And while the post did not specifically mention that Jon Snow is alive, fans are now trying to link HBO's recent teaser to George R.R. Martin's formal statement about Jon Snow's fate in the upcoming "Winds of Winter" novel.
"Oh, you think he's dead, do you?" Huffington Post quoted the highly acclaimed author. "He answered when asked if Jon Snow is really dead.
Reminding fans that they "should know better than to take anything as gospel."
George R.R. Martin also teased of shocking twists on the upcoming novel.
"This is going to drive your readers crazy but I love it," he admitted.
"I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking."
And while no official announcement is still being made, fans are hoping that Jon Snow could pull off a Glenn-like survival like what happened in the equally high rating show "The Walking Dead."
Meanwhile, many are asking when will "Winds of Winter" release date would be?
Following the recent "GOT" teaser, fans are now hoping that someone from George R.R. Martin's side could provide an update about his latest opus.
Th 67-year-old novelist previously told Entertainment Weekly that he is aiming to release the novel earlier thant the April release of "Game of Thrones" season 6.
"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he explained. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."
If everything goes out as planned, "Winds of Winter" release date could indeed happen early next year.
