After serenading the AMA crowd with their hit song, "Marvin Gaye," Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor got into a major lip-lock that got everyone wondering if they were both an item.
As it turns out, that whole kiss (not to mention Puthbutt-grabbing the "All About That Bass" singer) was just an act.
In a recent interview, Charlie Puth said the kiss wasn't romantic at all and that he doesn't see Meghan Trainor "that way."
"I'm a very aggressive maker-outer, but Meghan is my friend, and I don't know, like my natural boy instincts kinda just like kicked in," Charlie Puth told The JohnJay & Rich Show, as reported by Seventeen Magazine. "So I was like all nervous before, like how am I going to make this look real, because I'm not attracted to her in that way? She's like my friend."
However, Charlie Puth did admit there was a little tongue action during his "Marvin Gaye" performance with Meghan Trainor at the AMAs.
"There was a little tongue," Puth admitted, adding: "It was mostly lip action, but I didn't want to get too crazy."
"At first, we were like, 'Holy sh*t, what did we just do?'" Puth said of his 15-second kiss with Trainor.
He added: "I have a girl kind of in my life right now that I'm not making too public and I don't want people to get the wrong idea."
Meanwhile, Meghan Trainor laughed off all the boyfriend-girlfriend gossip that came after her lip-lock with Charlie Puth.
"All about dat ass grab doe @charlieputh proud of you Charlie," Trainor wrote, along with the hashtag "#imsingle."
Last month, the "All About That Bass" singer revealed the qualities she's looking for in a man.
"(I'm looking for) someone who's a gentleman, someone who opens that door," she said. "A dude pulled out a chair for me the other day and I was like, 'Whoa! OK, nice!' That's new for me. I liked it. And if they're funny, that's awesome."
