"Mafia 3" release date is coming next year!
While 2K Games has yet to announce the exact date yet, the sequel to the hit title is confirmed to come in 2016.
Following the first trailer released at 2015 GamesCom, fans have become more and more curious about the the new lead character, who will be introduced in "Mafia 3."
Set in 1968 in the "deep south of New Orleans," where "violent racism was a part of everyday life," a new character "half-black, half-white," named Licoln Clay will take over the gaming franchise.
Given that the release date is happening next year, creative director Haden Blackman shared more information on what fans could expect of the new lead character.
Talking to Game Informer as reported by Cross Map, Blackman discussed Lincoln Clay's background.
"That whole notion of being an orphan and looking for a place to belong was something we had really early on. We explored a couple of things with this," he said via Cross Map. "One is it's not just that he was raised as an orphan, he was raised in a Catholic Orphanage and that has its own weight to it. But once the orphanage is closed, what was he going to do?"
Meanwhile, IGN added that the story will go around the events of Clay seeking revenge from the Italian mob after he has been left for dead.
"After returning home from the war, and finding a new family in the 'Black mob,' he once again loses it when the Italian mob wipes them out, shoots Clay in the head, and leaves him for dead," IGN reported.
"And he takes all these anti-hero ingredients and plays the part brutally well, unleashing a rampage of pissed-off vengeance that devastates the Italian Mob and creates a power vacuum for organized crime in the city. A space Clay is more than willing to fill."
As the story focuses on vengeance and racism, it will also feature other aspects of the Mafia world.
As Lincoln Clay tries to build his empire, players will reportedly get the chance to work with other gang leaders when "Mafia 3" release date arrives.
"Cassandra and her Haitians, Burke and his Irish, and the protagonist from 'Mafia 2,' Vito Scaletta, who lends his faction of Italians. These three lieutenants will grant you special abilities and unlocks if you show them favor, or bicker and betray if they feel you're giving away their piece of this new crime pie."
With no exact release date set yet, Gotta Mobile confirmed that "Mafia 3" is going to be made available next year.
"Today's trailer confirms the Mafia 3 release date for 2016," Gotta Mobile confirmed. "This means that fans of the series won't be able to play the third-installment this holiday season and it means that we might have a long way to go before we see this game hit shelves.
