Tom Hardy’s FX/BBC One Drama ‘Taboo’ Begins Production; Cast Revealed

Production for Tom Hardy's next TV project "Taboo," begins production this week in London.

"Taboo," a series with eight episodes, is a collaboration between FX and BBC One created by Steven Knight with Tom Hardy as the executive producer through his company, Hardy Son & Baker alongside Ridley Scott's company, Scott Free London with Sonar Entertainment distributing the show worldwide. This new project will serve as a reunion between Hardy and Knight, who was Hardy's collaborator in "Peaky Blinders" and "Locke."

"Taboo" will center on the story of James Keziah Delaney who will be played by Tom Hardy. The synopsis for "Taboo" published in Deadline reads: "Tom Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney who returns to 1814 London after 10 years in Africa to discover that he has been left a mysterious legacy by his father. Driven to wage war on those who have wronged him, Delaney finds himself in a face-off against the East India Company, whilst playing a dangerous game between two warring nations-Britain and America.

Thirteen actors have already been named joining Hardy in "Taboo," including Michael Kelly ("House of Cards") who will play the role of American doctor named Dumbarton; Jonathan Pryce ("Game of Thrones") as James Delaney's nemesis Sir Stuart Strange; Oona Chaplin as Delaney's half-sister, Zilpha Geary; and David Hayman ("Macbeth") as Delaney's trusted man servant, Brace.

Also part of the cast are Jessie Buckley ("Shades of Love") as Lorna Bow, who lays claims to James Delaney's father's will; Ashley Walters ("Get Rich or Die Tryin"), a woman from Delaney's past in Africa; Jefferson Hall ("Vikings") as Zilpha's husband, Thorne Geary; Ed Hogg ("White Lightnin'") as the cross-dressing spy named Godfrey; Leo Bill ("Alice in Wonderland") as Stuart Strange's accomplice named Wilton; Christopher Fairbank ("Guardians of the Galaxy") as Ibbotson; Richard Dixon ("The King's Speech") as Stuart Strange's assistant, Pettifer; Jason Watkins ("The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies") Prince Regent's assistant, Solomon Coop; and Nicholas Woodeson ("Rome") as the Delaney's family lawyer.

ComingSoon.net, in its report, said that Kristoffer Nyholm will be helming the TV show, with Mark Patten as Director of Photography, Sonja Klaus as Production Designer, Joanna Eatwell as Costume Designer and Nina Gold as Casting Director.
