Acapella group sensation Pentatonix slayed their role as the Canadian rival group of the Barden Bellas in "Pitch Perfect 2" and the group, during their appearance at American Music Awards on Sunday, said that they hope to be part of "Pitch Perfect 3."
Bustle, in its report, highlighted that when the acapella group was asked on the red carpet during the American Music Awards about their chances on returning for "Pitch Perfect 3," Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan replied, "We don't know. Cross our fingers."
Red carpet host Terrence Jenkins of E! then commented, "It has to happen right?" To which Pentatonix member replied, "We would love that!"
The acapella group, known for their Beyonce and Michael Jackson cover medley, became part of "Pitch Perfect" because of the efforts of their mutual friend, Deke Sharon, who arrange music for NBC's The Sing-Off (where Pentatonix ultimately gained fame) and for the "Pitch Perfect" films. A lot of their fans have also been constantly urging producers through social media to make Pentatonix a part of the musical comedy films. Anna Kendrick, herself, is an outspoken fan of the Pentatonix.
The recently concluded American Music Awards also marked the onscreen reunion of "Pitch Perfect" cast Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld amd Chrissie Fit as they received the award on best original soundtrack for "Pitch Perfect" OST.
It was previously confirmed that Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will be returning on "Pitch Perfect 3" to reprise their roles as Beca and Fat Amy, respectively. "Pitch Perfect 3" reportedly will center on the life and adjustments of Beca, Fat Amy and Chloe (Brittany Snow) after graduating from the Barden University.
Also returning to helm "Pitch Perfect 3" is Elizabeth Banks, with Kay Cannon who will be writing the screenplay and Paul Brooks and Alex Handelman to produce the sequel.
"Pitch Perfect 3" will be released on August 4, 2017 and production will start early next year.
