The End For “Gravity Falls?” Series Finale Confirmed By Alex Hirsch

| By

"Gravity Falls," Disney's XD's highest-rated show, is reaching its finale as confirmed by the creator himself, Alex Hirsch.

"Gravity Falls" creator Alex Hirsch took to Twitter to announce the finale of the series, saying that there are only two episodes left and Season 2 will be its last. He wrote on Nov. 20: "Hey guys. 'Gravity Falls' has been an amazing journey, but the rumors are true-it's reaching its finale."

Also in his Tumblr page, the "Gravity Falls" showrunner that after "Weirdmageddon 2: Escape from Reality," there will be one more episode, a one-hour long grand finale.

In his Tumblr post entitled "Goodbye Gravity Falls," Hirsh admitted that it was a tough news for him as it is also for the fans. He clarified: "The first thing to know is that the show isn't being cancelled-it's being finished. This is 100% my choice, and it's something I decided on a very long time ago. I always designed 'Gravity Falls' to be a finite series about one epic summer-a series with a beginning, middle and end."

Hirsch said that he didn't want "Gravity Falls" to become a series that go on endlessly and lose its spark or the show's mystery to be cancelled as it goes on. The showrunner, furthermore, promised that "Gravity Falls" finale will give a real answer to its mystery and a real conclusion to its ending.

Why it took time for Hirsch to announce the finale for "Gravity Falls," he said, "Before we started Season 2, my writers and I decided that this season would be the last. I wanted to announce this to the world at large then, but I was restricted from doing so, mainly because I think a lot of people were hoping I'd change my mind."

Finally, Hirsch went on to thank the entire "Gravity Falls" fandom, saying, "To the 'Gravity Falls' fandom-I love you guys. You're weird and clever and smart and curious and have been a constant inspiration to me and the crew. You've picked us up when we felt down and pushed and inspired us to do the best work we possibly could. I hope you enjoy watching our finale as much as we enjoyed dreaming it up."
