Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield reportedly broke up last month, but there are some sources that claim that the two are still together.
The breakup rumors started when a passerby asked "The Amazing Spider-Man" star where his girlfriend was and he replied, "We're not together anymore."
The couple was last seen together in August, which may be a sign that they have called it quits. According to Us Weekly, the 27-year-old actress and the 32-year-old actor had split up a couple of months ago.
"They still have a lot of love for one another and they are on good terms with each another and remain close," an insider said. "It just wasn't working."
However, the breakup of Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield may just be a publicity stunt to help promote the actress' new film "La La Land" which also stars Ryan Gosling.
She has been linked to the 35-year-old actor who has been her love interest in several films including "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
In fact, there have been reports coming out that the Hollywood hunk is having relationship problems with his live-in partner Eva Mendes because of her jealousy.
"It doesn't matter how many times Ryan tells Eva what he and Emma are just friends, she knows there's an attraction there," an insider told Star Magazine.
Early this year, there have been reports that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield only had a break and didn't breakup for good because of their work. During that time, she was shooting "Aloha" with Bradley Cooper while her boyfriend was working on Martin Scorsese's "Silence."
"They're both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage," an insider told PEOPLE. "It's one of those situations where only Andrew and Emma quite know if they'll pick up where they left off or they've separated. They are just separated for work."
Apart from "La La Land," Emma Stone is working on several projects including "Battle of the Sexes" and "The Favourite" while Andrew Garfield is currently filming "Hacksaw Ridge."
Maybe they are just on a temporary break just like before.
