Coca-Cola Adjusts Business Model and Management Positions Jan. 1

In efforts to continue growth, and develop modifications made to operations last year, Coca-Cola is re-organizing some of its positions, and branching into two entities Convenience Store News reported Friday.

The company will become Coca-Cola North America, and Coca-Cola Refreshments with a focus on being a regular business, and using a business model catered to making bottles Jan. 1.

Coca-Cola's Latin America entity joins Coca-Cola International. Its president Brian Smith, will come to Coca-Cola International president Ahmet Bozer.

"Today's announcement represents the next step in the evolution of the business announced last year when the company consolidated leadership of its global operations under the Bottling Investments Group, Coca-Cola International and Coca-Cola Americas," Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Co told Convenience Store News.

"We organized the business to intensify focus on key markets, streamline reporting lines and provide flexibility to adjust the business within these geographies in the future," he continued. Now, we are in a position to leverage this flexibility to return to a traditional company and bottling operating model in North America, which will enhance our focus on execution and accelerate the re-franchising of our bottling system in our flagship market."

J. A. M. "Sandy" Douglas will become president of Coca-Cola North America. Douglass will also keep his position as global chief customer officer. He will also supervise, North America brands, food service, brand commercial, retail sales, research and development, venturing and emerging brands, strategy, franchise leadership and transformation, and franchise operations in Canada.

Paul Mulligan who is presently head of commercial for BIG, and also its region director for Japan and Latin America will look after Coca-Cola Refreshments. The bottling operations of North America, which will join the Bottling Investments Group. BIG President Irial Finan has been selected to oversee Mulligan.

Employees working for and in CCR Canada, the company's product supply chain and service, bottler commercial department, customer care and region sales areas will come to Mulligan with issues, questions and feedback.

Steve Cahillane, president of Coca-Cola America's departs the company to find other endeavors.
