U2 Works On New Album, Releasing New Music Again For Free On iTunes Possible

| By

Following their 2014 album "Songs of Innocence," U2 is currently working on a new album which will be called "Songs of Experience" and the band is still considering the release of their new music on iTunes.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, U2 confirmed that they are completing the new album while on tour. The band sees the release of "Songs of Innocence" next year.

"We're playing out of our skins by the moment," Bono said. "It's pathetic it took us 35 years to be the band we've always wanted to be. It's a wild thing to be in it. Our friend, Noel Gallagher, came to a show and told us, 'You're starting with the encore?'"

Bono revealed that they already have 18 tracks completed for the new album, although they plan to cut it down to 12 final tracks. "We're well into it. Edge just came up with a cracker the other day! It's provisionally titled 'Tigh'rope.'"

"It's very epic," Bono said about their upcoming new album. "It's very up. And, you know, that's probably what the experience has taught us: to be fully in the moment and that fun is respected, and joy is not to be let go of."

While the band got the ire of several Apple users worldwide last year when "Songs of Innocence" was automatically downloaded to everyone's iTunes library for free, U2 said they have not ruled out the possibility of releasing their upcoming new album again via iTunes.

"We haven't figured it out yet, but our intention would be to get it out sometime in the back end of next year," the 54-year old Bono said (via Belfast Telegraph).

"I would not rule out doing something similar with the next record," Bono added, saying that releasing their last album for free in iTunes, although became controversial, has helped them bring the band to a new, younger, generation of fans.
