Apple iPhone 5S: Device Ranks Highest Sold Among Mobile Carriers

| By

Consumers are buying Apple's iPhone 5S more than any other smartphone device from any carrier including Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

The information comes from a monthly put out each month by Michael Walkley, an analyst at Canaccord Genuity Forbes reported Friday.

"Our U.S. and global handset surveys indicated strong ongoing sales of the iPhone 5s and solid sales of the Samsung's Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 smartphones at all four tier-1 U.S. carriers and also in several international markets," Walkley told Forbes. "Our global surveys indicated seasonally softer sales of low/mid-tier Android smartphones from Chinese OEMs in China following strong sales into the first week of the October holiday season. In addition, our surveys indicated steady global sales of Samsung's mid/low-tier smartphones backed by Samsung's aggressive promotions and pricing."

Apple's less expensive and more basic iPhone 5C smartphone came in third with every carrier.

The iPhone 5S had major success right off the bat with a sellout. This caused delays in new models being sent out to stores.

Apple's iPhone inventory has increased from 31 percent Nov. 1 to 90 percent Nov. 28. The iPhone 5S also had a 0.8 percent increase compared to the iPhone 5. Mobile carrier AT&T had 99 percent of the smartphone in stock. Verizon showed 98 percent. Sprint tallied 72 percent while AT&T and Verizon each had 75 percent combined.

Apple released the iPhone 5S, and iPhone 5C at the same time. It ended up scaling back production however for fear that the phone would hurt sales of the more upscale iPhone 5S.

The iPhone 5C is $100 less expensive than the premium 5S with an initial price at $649 for the 16 gigabyte model.

Apple predicts it will sell 33 million to 36 million new iPhones during the fourth fiscal quarter also known as the holiday quarter in a projection that could top 50 million.
