Who should be the opponent in Manny Pacquiao's next fight?
There are many boxers who want to slug it out with the Filipino fighter but if it is Freddie Roach who will be asked, he would prefer this young fighter.
Reports said the Boxing Hall of Fame member trainer already gave a green light to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum to complete a deal with current WBO junior-welterweight champion Terence Crawford who sports a 27-0 win-loss record.
"I spoke to Bob Arum and he asked if I would be willing to have Pacquiao fight Terrence Crawford. And I said yes, but the final decision is up to Manny," the former boxer turned trainer told Boxing Scene.
Terence Crawford highlights
Although he sees Crawford as the more deserving one as Manny Pacquiao's next fight, he hasn't surrendered the dream of a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. who defeated his boy last May 2.
Floyd is retired but Roach believes the undefeated American fighter will come out of retirement.
"The next opponent may be Terence Crawford, but it could also be a rematch against Mayweather, if he comes out of retirement, which I think will happen and I think he will return to the ring," he said.
"I'm sure Manny would make a better fight than what [he was able to do] in the first fight."
Freddie Roach is not convinced Floyd defeated Manny because the former only run for most of the 12 rounds during their fight.
"I thought it was a very close fight," Roach said during the press conference after the match dubbed as the "Fight of the Century."
"I thought he ran very well," said Roach. "He was just running, moving backwards and I feel Manny should have won a lot of those rounds because he was the aggressor."
As for Floyd Mayweather Jr, he doesn't want any part in Manny Pacquiao's next fight. He dismissed the idea of a rematch and accuses Pacman of using his name to sell his fight which is scheduled on April next year.
"It's all b*******. What they're doing is this, once again, piggybacking off my name to sell pay-per-view numbers when he does go out there and fight again," Mayweather said in an interview with Fight Hype's Ben Thompson.
