"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 spoilers ahead!
Don't look now, but Sheldon Cooper will soon be having coitus a.k.a. sex (if you haven't been listening for the past 9 seasons) with Amy Farrah Fowler!
That's right! "The Big Bang Theory" Executive Producer revealed on Tuesday, Nov. 17 that after five years of dating, the show's power couple will finally do the dirty deed (metaphorically dirty, since Sheldon cringes at any kind of dirt).
"After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship, and we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes," the show's Executive Producer, Steve Molaro revealed.
"It's an interesting place for them to be; It seems very real and I think it's exciting that we're shaking things up," Molaro said of Amy and Sheldon's relationship in a separate interview in May.
Shamy (Sheldon and Amy) are set to take their relationship to the next level in a breakthrough episode airing Thursday, Dec. 17, according to CBS.com.
Although Molaro revealed no other "Big Bang Theory" spoilers on the forthcoming episode, it comes a few episodes after Amy was seen with her third date since breaking up with Sheldon. In the show's Nov. 12 episode ("The Mystery Date Observation"), Amy dates a tall, British Math nerd named Dave.
Amy later on finds out that Dave left England because the country reminded him of his "cold, gloomy ex-wife" who provides easy access to French men through a tunnel. She also finds out that Dave is a big fan of the great Dr. Sheldon Cooper, which prompts Amy to call it a night.
During the last episode of season 8, Amy broke up with Sheldon due to the lack of sexual intimacy in their relationship.
"Being your girlfriend is so challenging, emotionally, physically," Amy told Sheldon. "This isn't easy to say because I love you, but I need some time to take a step back and re-evaluate our situation. I hope you understand."
Later on, after having his heart broken, Sheldon pulls out an engagement ring and asks advice from his Gollum action figure on his desk.
