Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet: Computer's Price Decreased to Discounted $199 For Rest of Monday

| By

Dell's Venue 8 Pro Tablet was available in the Microsoft Store for a $99 door buster price, $200 less than its normal $299 ABC News reported Monday.

Consumers bought all of the store's tablet computers, which are now available for $199.

"(The new devices show that) Dell is back and aggressive as ever," Patrick Moorhead, founder and principal analyst of Moor Insights and Strategy told Computer World. "I'm impressed with the value their Android tablets bring. "I think Microsoft has missed a big opportunity with the low need, but that is in line with them missing the boat on almost every major trend for the last few years," Moorhead told ABC News. "They missed the boat on touch, they missed the boat on the 7-inch form factor -- which they finally do have -- and now they have been late with a low-priced offering. This is to get excitement going about not only Windows 8 tablet but also about the Microsoft Store before the holidays."

The latest deal is one of many scheduled over the next 12 days up until Christmas as Microsoft strives to lure customers into the software company's stores, while also promoting the device.

The computer has a Windows 8.1 operating system, which includes Office Home and Student 2013, 32 gigabytes of memory, two gigabytes of random access memory, an eight inch screen with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, a micro USB port, and a maximum 10 hours of battery life before it needs to be charged again Information week reported.

According to PC World, the tablet has Bluetooth capabilities, and an insert for an SD or secure digital card. This helps accommodate for the large amount of space needed for the Windows 8.1 operating system, which leaves roughly 12 gigabytes of available memory. More SD memory cards can be used however to increase capacity.

The 64 gigabyte device cannot be used for video.
