The past season for Grigor Dimitrov's tennis career was not impressive.
And while the tennis superstar is now ready to get back up, his past relationship with Maria Sharapova is reportedly to blame for his downward spiral.
According to Kpopstarz, the Bulgarian professional tennis player could have hinted that he regretted his relationship to ex-girlfriend.
"Grigor Dimitrov may be regretting his relationship with Maria Sharapova, according to the most recent interview,"Kpopstarz noted.
In his previous interview with Tennis World, Grigor Dimitrov talked about the past season where he reportedly hinted that it was a "mistake" to become Sharapova's boyfriend.
"I did well in Australia, I had my chances against (Andy Murray), but then things turned out. After that match I lost a little bit of confidence, I changed my racquet and I had some changes off court.... I started to make things wrong in practice, my fitness level wasn't good and so I didn't play a very good tennis. Hopefully I'll learn quite enough from it and I hope I don't make the same mistake in 2016," Dimitrov explained.
While he did not specifically mention what "mistakes" he was talking about, it certainly showed on his world ranking career.
Dimitrov used to be in the 11th rank and after the season ended, he's now at the 26th rank.
Meanwhile, Maria Sharapova, who refused to talk about her ex-boyfriend has instead opened up about gaining "emotional strength."
Maria Sharapova had apparently said something that might have been influenced by her recent split.
"I encourage young girls to follow their strength. Strong bodies come in a variety of shapes and sizes," the 28-year-old Russian tennis superstar said according to Huffington Post . "But I don't think you really learn to appreciate your body -- however it looks -- until you truly understand its capabilities. Realizing physical strength is a great gateway to realizing emotional strength."
