Floyd Mayweather Jr Will Un-Retire And Will Fight Again For Money Says De La Hoya

| By

Don't be fooled. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will not stay retired and will fight again. At least if it is his former opponent Osar De La Hoya who will be asked.

Talking to Boxingscene.com, the Golden Boy Promotions CEO said the undefeated American fighter, who sports a record-tying 49-0 win-loss card, will fight again and it is only a matter of time before it happens.

"No [I don't believe he'll stay retired], not at all. I strongly believe that he will fight a few more times. Not just once, but a couple of more times. I think he will wait until next year, maybe do the rematch with Pacquiao and then we'll see what happens," said De La Hoya who lost to Mayweather Jr. in 2005.

Why would Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight again? Oscar De La Hoya has only one explanation - for money.

"It's all business for Mayweather. That's all it is. His team...that's the difference between our fight here on November 21st [between Cotto and Canelo]...it's about passion, it's about the fans, it's about doing the best fight possible and that's what the fighters will do inside the ring - is give you a war. It is about the business [for us as well], but it's about the fight first," De La Hoya said.

"[For Mayweather] it's all about money. Low risk, high reward. And for us here, we're not naive here - we want to make money, but its all about making sure the fans are happy."

Manny Pacquiao's next fight is set on April 9 of next year and in a recent interview, he revealed he is targeting the boxer who defeated him last May in what was dubbed as the "Fight of the Century." Mayweather Jr. then dismissed this revelation by Pacman saying the Filipino fighter is only after publicity.

"It's all b*******. What they're doing is this, once again, piggybacking off my name to sell pay-per-view numbers when he does go out there and fight again," Mayweather said in an interview with Fight Hype's Ben Thompson.

Pacquiao made the revelation in an interview with CNN.

"It's possible -- very much," he told CNN World Sport at a charity event in UAE. "I would love to have a rematch if he wants it."
