"Weirdmageddon" officially has begun in "Gravity Falls" Season 2 and things have started to become really weirder, disturbing yet definitely more interesting.
"Weirdageddon," as previously reported, will be a multi-episode arc that may extend up to the end of "Gravity Falls" Season 2. Alex Hirsch, the creator of the animated series, has confirmed himself that the multi-part story of "Weirdmageddon" will have the stakes higher, the situations stranger, the magic bigger and the characters dealing with completely unusual situations. "You've never seen anything like this before," he said.
"Gravity Falls" Season 2's most recent episode (S02E18) has seen Mabel trapped in a prison bubble and Bill Cipher is believed to be the one responsible for putting her there and setting up chains to surround the prison bubble. The next episode entitled "Escape From Reality" will have Dipper Pines and Mabel Pines reunited plus a hefty amount of revelations.
And while Ford mentioned in Episode 18 that he knows Bill Cipher's weakness, the recent interview of Alex Hirsch with TV Insider revealed that Bill's weakness had already been hinted and that it had something to do with Bill destroying of the journals, calling it his biggest mistake and that it may cause his defeat.
"Bill is trying to lay Dipper as low as possible. He sees Dipper as a very tiny pawn on a very big chessboard. Ford is the King and he's already captured him. So Dipper means nothing to Bill at this point and Bill wants to really, really break Dipper's spirit. It's more fun for Bill to toy with his victims that to outright destroy them. So for him, nothing could be crueler and more dissembling of Dipper's sense of hope than the journals burned at Dipper's feet," Hirsch told TV Insider.
Movie Pilot, in its report, said that by burning the journals, will have Dipper being freed "from the crutch he's been leaning on during the whole show. It becomes symbolical as Dipper can now step out of the shadow of Ford, his uncle, whose footsteps he had always followed through the entirety of the show. And with Ford incapacitated, Dipper will have the chance to reunite with his twin, Mabel.
In other words, by burning the journals and capturing Ford, Bill Cipher, according to Movie Pilot, "have just allowed Dipper to unlock the biggest threat against him... Mabel!" That is his biggest mistake.
