A video of a squirrel dubbed Tippy has gone viral examiner.com reported Wednesday.
"This appears to be a balance issue, as it occurs when he stand up on his hind legs," a commenter posted under the video. He stands up, begins chewing, and vertigo sets in, causing him to fall over. He's dealt with it his whole life, so he just pops back up on all fours and continues on. While it could be life threatening, from high elevations, I'm sure he's learned to account for it."
The rodent species got its name because it topples over a couple seconds at a time into the grass at the park. The video has over 200,000 hits compared to it having close to none five days prior idesigntimes.com reported.
Some have speculated that Tippy might have consumed more nuts than he could handle, or had not had enough, and was therefore collapsing.
The new theory believes Tippy consumed poison, and is enduring its side effects.
Tippy could also have a sleep disorder like narcolepsy. There is also the chance that the squirrel's muscles tightened up when attempting to go up a tree according to the person who uploaded the video.
This stems from a muscular disease where animals' muscles become tense, and then relax leading the species to tumble over when in uncomfortable situations.
"Imagine the heart is a turkey baster," another commenter posted under the video. When you squeeze it, it pushes blood out and when you let go, it refills with blood. Our little friend's heart is pushing blood out, but isn't refilling like it should so the little guy passes out. He jumps back up as the heart refills with blood. I'm sure the little fella is scared when this happens and to a lesser degree in some discomfort."
