‘The Voice’ Season 9 Playoffs Recap: Team Blake, Team Pharrell Strong But Failed In iTunes Charts?

| By

Twelve contestants from Team Blake and Team Pharrell gave their all for Night 2 of The Live Playoffs in "The Voice" Season 9 with impressive performances although it did not translate to striking spots in the iTunes Charts.

After "The Voice" Season 9's Blind Auditions and Knockout Rounds, fans were clearly seeing Team Adam as the strongest team for the newest season, with Team Gwen trailing next. After the Live Playoffs Night 2, however, Team Blake and Team Pharrell proved that they have what it takes to win the whole thing.

Starting the Night 2 of the Live Playoffs for "The Voice" Season 9 is Team Pharrell's singer-producer Darius Scott, who took on Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" and made it his own with his jazzy rendition. "You're the guy on Team Pharrell we've got to be all worried about," Blake commented.

The first one to perform from Team Blake was Ivonne Acero who was given by her coach Joan Osborne's "One of Us" and Ivonne was happy with the song choice because she has always wanted to perform gospel. Gwen said she was drawn in by Acero's performance.

Next to perform was Team Blake's Morgan Frazier with Hinder's "Lips of Angel," which was Blake's choice. Pharrell said that he now understands why Blake stole Morgan back. Her coach said that either people will vote for her or be full of hate.

Team Pharrell was next with Evan McKeel who performed Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed." Gwen said Mckeel sang it perfectly. Fifth to perform was Team Pharrell's Madi Davis who chose Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird," which according to Madi, was one of her mom's most favorite songs. Capping the first half of Night 2 in the Live Playoffs was Pharrell's comeback artist Celeste Betton who took on Carrie Underwood's "Something in the Water." For the first time in the franchise, the coaches are given the opportunity to bring back one artist who was previously eliminated.

Zach Seabaugh of Team Blake was next to perform. He sang Steve Holy's "Brand New Girlfriend." Blake admitted that part of his strategy is to position Zach as a heartthrob. He was followed by YouTube star Riley Biedere who chose Tori Kelly's "Should've Been Us" and it was terrific. Pharrell calls Riley a fighter while Gwen said she misses her former artist.

After being eliminated in the Knockouts, Blake is bringing back Nadjah Nicole, who took on Diana Ross' "Upside Down." MJSBigBlog, in its report, called it a poor song choice and commented that Nadja muss be tossed right back out again. Emily Ann Roberts of Team Blake followed and performed a gospel standard, "In The Garden." TVLine, in its review, said that Emily Ann could have fared better if she waited another year or two before joining.

Team Pharrell's Mark Hood made a surprising choice with Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?" Mark admitted he was not used to sing falsettos, which came a shock for his coach. Adam said he is happy that Pharrell is helping Mark realize his potentials.

The last to perform for Night 2 of the Live Playoffs was Team Blake's Barrett Baber who performed Lee Brice's "I Drive Your Truck." Gwen loved the emotions Barrett had put in the song while Adam expressed his disappointment on Barrett not ending up on his team.

Meanwhile, after Night 2 of "The Voice" Season 9 Live Playoffs, the artists of Team Blake and Team Pharrell failed to earn outstanding performances in the iTunes Chart. Unlike the previous night, which saw Team Adam's Jordan Smith's "Halo" entering the Top 10 of the iTunes 2, Team Blake and Team Pharrell's charts are underwhelming.

In the report by Blasting News, as of 10 PM Pacific Time, the top spot was taken by Emily Ann Roberts of Team Blake with "In The Garden landing at No. 16. She was followed by Zach Seabaugh of Team Blake with "Brand New Girldfriend" at No. 31. The third highest ranking was taken by Team Pharrell's Madi Davis with "Songbird" at No. 32. Rounding out the top five spots are Team Blake's Barrett Baber with "I Drive Your Truck" at No. 35 and Team Pharrell's Celeste Betton with "Something in the Water" at No. 39.
