Korn Actively Gearing Up For Their New Album As Munky And Head Tease Details!

| By

Fans of Korn are now clamoring to get a hold of their new album following the 2013 record "The Paradigm Shift."

And while the heavy metal band has yet to discuss the planned release date of their new album, guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch gamely shared details about their new tracks.

In an interview with Pop Break, Munky and Head teased fans of what to expect of their new album saying that it will most definitely feature "dirtier and heavier" riffs but rest assured that it won't be sacrificing the "melodic elements" known from the band.

"Keep the melodic elements of what we captured on the last record but really expand on the heavy riffs and get a bit dirtier," Shaffer revealed. "Maybe a little longer songs with longer intros, and a little more math rock, not prog-rocky but maybe some slower tempoed grooves that are 7/8 or 3/4 timing and stuff like that."

Munky then compared Korn from other bands, explaining how much risk the band took in making the new album.

"It's about taking chances and going out on a limb," he added. "You hear a lot of bands say how every album is a chance to reinvent yourself. For us, I really feel like we've gone out on a f-ing plank because sometimes there's no turning back. You have to commit to it and sometimes it's like 'Eh, I don't know,' and you kind of let go and see what happens."

And while fans are highly anticipating the release of their new album, Korn is now busy permforming on a mini tour with their songs from their self-titled debut album back in 1994.

Munky shared to Rolling Stone how excited he is with this mini tour as the band celebrates the debut album's 20th anniversary.

"We were all sitting in the car, listening to one of the rough mixes [of the whole album], and I just remember all of us like getting goosebumps," Munky previously said of the album. "We called it 'the Watch,' 'cause you kinda look at your arm and you look like you're looking at a watch. We all had goosebumps."
