Lorde is definitely going to release a new album!
And while she is actively gearing up for a new record, the "Royals" singer will reportedly bring a different sound and possible an entirely different genre from "Pure Heroine."
According to MTV, the 18-year-old hitmaker is collaborating with EDM group Disclosure.
Lorde reportedly worked with the duo's song titled "Magnets."
"How she wanted to change every little bit and really be involved with the whole thing is really cool," Disclosure said of Lorde's involvement. "It just reminded us to pay really close attention of every little piece."
And while working with Disclosure does not guarantee a shift in genre, Lorde teased fans on what to expect of her new album, explaining how her new environment has affected her inspiration in music.
"I wrote the last album about that world which was the suburb where I grew up and populated by my friends and people who were really familiar to me," Lorde said of her new album in an interview with BBC. "Now I'm in a different place every day and I'm with new people every day and it's a different vibe."
The New Zealand breakthrough artist however, has confessed that while she is very much involved with her new album, she has no idea as how it will eventually turn out.
"We haven't got some planned out 'this is what it's going to sound like,'" Lorde explained. "I think we're just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we'll know that it's right. It's pretty simple really."
"I don't know where the inspiration comes from for stuff. You work and at some point you feel you suck for the first 10 hours and in the last hour in the studio something great happens. You just never know when it's going to come."
