Still stuck with Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate?
Well, fans can argue all the time they want but for the Real Madrid star, nothing worth arguing about is going on between him and the Barcelona counterpart.
In fact, them being touted as the first and second best player world only makes them better.
"Over the past year, our relationship has improved," Cristiano Ronaldo told David McDonnell when asked about rivalry with Lionel Messi.
"I see him not as a rival but as a person. I see him as someone who makes me a better player and I make him a better player."
Will Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate end after these comments?
This is not the first time the Portuguese superstar spoke about the Argentine.
Although he downplays any rivalry, Ronaldo believes he is better than Messi, something he always keep in mind to continue pushing himself to improve.
"It doesn't bother me," Ronaldo told AS when asked what he thinks of Messi's success.
"If you look back over my past eight years, I've always been at the peak; and that is difficult. Name me someone else who has done it? After that, being No.1 or No.2 is a matter of small details, such as if you win trophies or not. Perhaps for you, Messi is the best; in my head, I am the best - and everyone should think that about ourselves. That is why I have been able to achieve so much in my career."
Ronaldo also revealed it is hard for him to see Messi win trophies.
"It was hard for me to watch Messi picking up several Ballon d'Ors. I'd be thinking: "Why should I go to the gala?" he said.
So far, Cristiano Ronaldo have taken home three Ballon d'Ors including the latest one.
On the other hand, Messi received four and is expected to get his fifth after winning treble last season.
