Google's explorer program for its connected eyewear device, Google Glass is now available for developers Engadget reported Tuesday.
The move is expected to help advance the devices app selection.
"When you asked us how to get Glass on this site, we told you there would be more chances to join the Explorer Program ... someday," Google told Mashable in an e-mail. "Well, today's the day. The sneak peek of the Glass Developer Kit (GDK) is available now, making it possible to build new and innovative kinds of Glassware. We're now inviting you, as a developer, to purchase Glass, become an Explorer and join us in taking the next step in developing for Glass."
The internet company has made several other changes to its latest device. This includes the replacement of a new head-mounted camera based on customer critiques about how the product can be improved and the ability for user to send requests to three friends.
Introduction into optometry offices is also a possibility. This would be done through VSP or Vision Service Plans which gives Google employees health care benefits for their eyes.
Google has also added music capabilities. The new feature allows users to look for songs, review playlists, and hear music files in good quality sound with the device on their head.
Google will also be launching its own headphones specifically made for the connected eyewear at $85 before December. The news is also the company's latest development for the product since it announced it is constantly working to improve it for consumers.
"With these new features, we're now building a great music experience on Glass, whether you're a classical music professor, an acclaimed sound engineer and hip-hop producer, or someone who wants to listen to their favorite tunes anytime, anywhere," Ed Sanders, director of marketing for Google Glass, said in a statement earlier this month The New York Times reported.
