PlayStation 4 Release: Users Wary of 'Blue Light of Death' Following Game Console's In-Store Arrival

| By

Quite a few consumers who have purchased Sony's newest PlayStation 4 game console, experienced the Blue Light of Death, an instance where one's device does not connect with their television ABC News reported this week.

"The number of affected PS4 systems is less than one percent, which represents a very small percentage of total units shipped to date and is within the expected range for a new product introduction," said Sony in a statement ABC News reported. "However, they are helping those who have been affected by the Blue Light of Death. We understand the frustration of consumers that have had a problem and are working with them and our retail partners to help troubleshoot issues and ensure affected units are exchanged."

The blinking light usually shows, and then switches into a white screen when operating normally.

"(It could be issues relating to the system's power supply and hard drive, as well as incompatibility issues with certain televisions,)" a Sony employee said in a troubleshooting guide forum about the device ABC News reported. "We appreciate your patience while we investigate."

The new $399 game console has eight x86 CPU-codes titled Jaguar, and is manufactured from Advanced Micro Devices according to Network World. It also comes equipped with upgraded graphics coprocessors capable of handling 1.84 teraflops of performance.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has also had a comparable problem entitled the Red Ring of Death. Users put an extra three years on the machine's warranty resulting in $1 billion in added expenses.

Users can watch popular PBS shows on the game console such as "Frontline," "Nova," "American Experience," "Austin City Limits," "Masterpiece," "Secrets of the Dead" and original video made in the network's digital studios on the new feature.

Microsoft released its Xbox One game console Friday equipped with a sensor that lets users operate the machine with their voice.
