Matt Ryan's John Constantine has finally made his highly-anticipated appearance in Oliver Queen's world.
"Arrow" season 4 episode 5 titled "Haunted" featured the supernatural detective from the now canceled NBC TV series "Constantine" to restore Sarah's soul which she lost after being soaked in the Lazarus Pit despite being dead for long period of time.
Constantine's appearance in CW is one of the biggest events in television for many comic book fans because of the abrupt demise of his NBC show. Needless to say, "Arrow" season 4's latest episode was well-received by fans. Some are even suggesting CW to adopt "Constantine" which was developed by David S. Goyer. Others have a modest request. They want Arrow-verse to feature more of the British detective.
The problem though is CW, "Arrow", and its executive producers do not have the power to do it.
"Obviously so many fans would love to see him come back [on his own show]," executive producer Wendy Mericle told The Wrap ahead of the airing of "Arrow" season 4 episode 5.
"That's not something we can do. We'd love to have him back. Right now it's just this one episode this season, but you never know what the future's going to hold. This is what we have for right now, and we feel very lucky with that."
If there is anyone more powerful than them, Mericle said they are the fans. Ever since "Constantine" was canceled, supporters of the DC superhero turned to social media to find the short-lived TV series a new home.
"I know we listen to fans, I know DC listens, Warner Bros.," Mericle said.
"I don't know what the response would be to a campaign of that sort, but obviously there's always that symbiotic relationship because we know our fans are really devoted. We know how much they love both "Arrow" and "Constantine," so who knows?"
"Constantine" only ran for 13 episodes, with the script for episodes that did not happen already spread online.
Given the path "Arrow" is taking right now, the magic of Damien Darhk, Lazarus Pit, and other mystic elements, will Team Arrow turn to John Constantine again?
