Is it the end for Olitz after the latest "Scandal" episode?
The President of the United States, played by Tony Goldwyn, tried to propose to Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) but was rejected. There are lot of issues involved but the question is, will the latest rejection force him to surrender?
Fitz and Olivia have gone through a lot and Tony Goldwyn is sure POTUS will continue going after the one he really loves despite the odds.
"I think he will," Goldwyn told The Hollywood Reporter when asked if Fitz will continue efforts to win the YES of Olivia.
"I don't know that but that would be his intention for sure. This isn't the wedding he wanted, either. As Shonda [Rhimes] put it to me, that thing on the balcony was a Hail Mary out of stress and trying to somehow make it personal. To do something that took a strategic decision and inject it with how he feels about her and remind him that they love each other - except that didn't work out."
Although Fitz is totally head over heels with Olivia, the power couple might find a tougher challenge soon. In the latest "Scandal" season 5 episode, Rowan Pope (Joe Morton) was released from prison and is now working with the president's ex-wife Mellie whose son he got killed last season. This is a very complicated set up, for Mellie, Fitz, and Olivia Pope.
It will be easy for Fitz to get mad at Rowan Pope but the fact that the Command is the one who kept him in the office will give the president a lot to think about.
Also, his view of Olivia Pope might also be affected. Tony Goldwyn said the situation is awful for his character.
"Let's hope he never finds out about that! It's the worst of the worst and absolutely devastating. What happened in season was Defiance and the rigged election was terrible for Fitz - and for Fitz and Olivia - and this is 100 times worse. The man who had his son murdered and Olivia made a deal with Rowan, who is responsible for all of her misery, to save his presidency and get out of marrying Fitz. It's all so awful."
"Scandal" returns this Thursday for episode called "Even the Devil Deserves a Second Chance". Read "Scandal" season 5 spoiler below.
"While Fitz is focused on winning back the American people, he makes a shocking discovery. Meanwhile, OPA takes on a new client, but Olivia seems preoccupied keeping her own secrets, and Elizabeth North sets her sights on a new agenda."
