Los Angeles Clippers bench gets a lot of credit for their great run early in the season.
However, according to several NBA trade rumors, there is a chance the second unit might lose one of their key cogs.
Jamal Crawford, a two-time Sixth Man of the Year, is reportedly unhappy with his decreased role with the team, making him a topic of several wild NBA trade rumors.
During the off-season, he made controversial Tweet, making fans think he wants out of the team.
Currently, there are at least five players who can play shooting guard for the Clippers. Although a huge load of talent is a good problem for any coach, a sports site suggested Crawford is unhappy with the decreased role and minutes.
"Jamal Crawford is used to being the leader off the bench, his two sixth man of the year awards are testament to that," Sports Blog wrote.
"With that knowledge, it makes sense that Crawford probably doesn't like the idea of stepping onto the court with 4 other really talented bench players. He likes the idea of being the one in command, being able to take the shots, make the passes, etc. But as he said, with this new Clippers bench there are five people in the second lineup who can handle the ball... And there is only ONE basketball."
One week before the 2015-16 NBA season opened, Crawford questioned what the new set up will be with more players (e.g. Lance Stephenson, JJ Reddick, Doc Rivers, CJ Wilcox) about to slug it out for burn time.
"I just didn't know how it was going to fit," Crawford told reports as per OC Register. "You basically have five people in the second unit who can all handle the ball and make plays. There's only one basketball. How's this going to work?" [...]
"I'm so far in," Crawford said. "No matter what it is - touches, minutes - everyone's going to have to sacrifice something to go where we want to go. And I know that, whole-heartedly."
