San Francisco 49ers' campaign does not really look good right now and Colin Kaepernick's stats is pretty much the personification of that struggle.
The 28-year old quarterback was benched by Jim Tomsula in Sunday's game which they eventually lost.
Kaepernick's benching received a polarizing reception from fans and pundits alike. Some think it is the right move since he is struggling while others believe he should have at least played some minutes.
How long will he stay on the bench? Don't worry 49ers fans because the tattooed QB might not have a feel of the field for only up to two weeks.
"On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula made the decision to finally bench quarterback Colin Kaepernick after his inconsistent and ineffective play throughout much of the season, that included averaging four yards per pass, in the loss on Sunday," Bleacher Report's NFL insider Jason Cole reported.
"However, this is not a long term plan. What the 49ers are hoping is that if they bench Kaepernick for a week, possibly two, then he can get his head straight and get him back on the field and change the trajectory of the season and of his career at this point in time."
Cole said, as per his source, Colin's teammate to be specific, he needs to focus on how to run their offense.
Although there is some doubts over Colin Kaepernick's stats, Cole revealed the big bosses is not yet giving up on him. In fact, they believe there is too much talent from him not being used.
"And ultimately, the front office of the organization believes that there's something too much talent within Kaepernick to give up on him at this point of time," Cole said in the video blog.
"They can see that if they tap in to that talent and get him going to the right direction, he can ultimately become the star player that they have seen once he's up over his years as a starter."
San Francisco 49ers coach Tomsula said Colin Kaepernick's benching is not something personal and everyone on the team is under evaluation.
"We're evaluating everything right now, we're in the middle of it right now," he said.
"I don't have any comments on any position on our field right now," Tomsula said. "We're evaluating everyone. I'm not going to have any further comment, I'm just telling you we're evaluating everyone."
Will Colin Kaepernick's stats rise once he comes back to the starting line up?
