Jesse Braham, whose stage name is Jesse Graham, claims that some of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" lyrics were allegedly copied from his song, "Haters Gone Hate," which he wrote back in 2013.
According to the R&B singer, the lyrics in Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" which goes: "Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play. And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate" was allegedly ripped off from his song, which goes: "Haters gone hate, playas gone play. Watch out for them fakers, they'll fake you everyday."
Aside from the above mentioned lyrics, "Shake It Off" and "Haters Gone Hate" bears no other resemblance. However, the 50-year-old singer insisted that they sound quite the same.
"Her hook is the same hook as mine," Graham said of Taylor Swift's song lyrics. "If I didn't write the song 'Haters Gone Hate,' there wouldn't be a song called 'Shake It Off.'"
The R&B singer added that he had been in touch with the pop singer's record label, Big Machine, demanding them to add his name as a writer on Taylor Swift's song.
Aside from the name addition and now, a $42 million lawsuit, Graham also reportedly requested a selfie with the singer.
"At first I was going to let it go, but this song is my song all the way," Graham said.
Aside from slapping Taylor Swift with a lawsuit, the little-known R&B singer is also planning to sue CNN for the title of its morning show, "New Day."
According to him, the news organization copied the name of his church organization, New Day Worldwide.
This is the second lawsuit Taylor Swift has received this year. In September, Swift was also sued by a DJ for false sexual harassment accusations allegedly made by the "Blank Space" singer, which got him fired from his radio job.
