Amid concern about issues with the gear, Samsung has stopped providing Android's 4.3 Jelly Bean update for its Galaxy S3 smartphones ZDNET reported Tuesday.
"As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended," Samsung United Kingdom told ZDNet in a statement. "We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility."
"We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility," Samsung told BBC News.
Users have noticed the device starts up slow after being in sleep mode, Bluetooth audio issues, music skipping with company's music app. A freezing issue where the screen goes black when someone calls the phone, memory issues making switching from one program to the other arduous, and Wi-Fi problems.
The news is the latest development since the company said it was going to update its Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II, and Galaxy S3 devices with the software for United States customers.
"Samsung keep telling us that they will let us know as soon as they find a fix, but in the meantime I am left with a phone that is next to useless," Dylan Barlow, an owner told BBC.
The Android Jelly Bean 4.3 update is the first one the company unveiled on its phones' since it introduced its 4.1 version last May. It had previously upgraded from the 4.0 software, and did not offer a 4.2 version of the program. This made the 4.3 upgrade significant especially since Samsung wanted to make it and its phones work with the company's new Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
The update has done well in ratings overall so far recording a 29,000 to 30,000 benchmark score compared to Android's 4.2.2 software score of 25,000 to 26,000 according to Sam Mobile.
