Leonardo DiCaprio has been after that prestigious golden statue for years now but has been thwarted several times by his fellow actors.
With several Oscars 2016 predictions already popping up as early as now, will he finally get to bring home an Academy Award?
Indiewire noted that the 40-year-old A-lister seemed to have given his all for "The Revenant." If the magnificent trailer for the film is anything to go by, both DiCaprio and co-star Tom Hardy were both ready for some more critical attention and praise.
Gold Derby revealed that the "Wolf On Wall Street" star, who had been nominated for and lost four nominations in the past, is locking heads with Michael Fassbender for the category.
Whether DiCaprio's skills improved since the last time he was nominated or a new aspect to him came out thanks to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's direction, still remains to be seen.
The site reported that "The Revenant" trailer managed to convinced six critics to award the Best Actor category to the actor. Michael Fassbender, on the other hand has 10 supporters. These Golden Derby reviewers come from major entertainment sites like Yahoo!, USA Today and Variety.
Coming in third on the list is Eddie Redmayne, who bravely turned into the first trans woman in "The Danish Girl." Although it looks like this will be yet another awe-inspiring performance from the British gentleman, Indiewire, it's looks like he won't be winning another Oscar this year.
He had been nominated by the Academy for his performances in "What's Eating Gilbret Grape," "The Aviator," "Blood Diamond," and "Wolf Of Wall Street."
Will this be Leonardo DiCaprio's well-earned final year or will other actors pull the rug under his feet?
Indiewire's early Oscar's 2016 predictions also include Will Smith in "Concussion" and Johnny Depp in "Black Mass."
