Sony PlayStation game console enthusiasts can now get their hands on the newest PS4 model Bloomberg reported Friday.
"Gamers are tired of that PS3 that they've had for six or seven years, and they're ready to buy a new one," Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Securities in Los Angeles, said this week on a webcast Bloomberg reported. "Especially given that the Xbox One costs 100 bucks more, I think that you've got to give Sony a nod for faster out of the gate."
The new $399 game console has eight x86 CPU-codes titled Jaguar, and manufactured from Advanced Micro Devices PC World reported Wednesday. It also comes equipped with upgraded graphics coprocessors capable of handling 1.84 teraflops of performance.
"It represents a very large opportunity, not just for PlayStation but for Sony overall, to create in essence our own entertainment community," Andrew House, head of Sony's worldwide game operation said in an interview Bloomberg reported. "Until now, we didn't have a large networked consumer base. The PlayStation Network and PlayStation Plus are going to be front and center of our efforts, a lot more than it has in the past."
Playstation 4 has a 500 gigabyte hard drive that can play blu-ray DVDs. There are also eight gigabytes of GDDR5 memory or quick network speed random access memory found in graphics cards. Game makers put 176 gigabytes of network speed a second on the machine since they wanted the computer to run faster.
Consumers are therefore able to watch shows, movies, or play games on other gadgets and machines other than just the game console. People will also be able to use their real names rather than imaginary ones, and include more colleagues when playing.
There are also 11 apps including Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, Hulu Plus. Crackle, Crunchyroll, Epix, NBA Game Time, NHL GameCenter LIVE, Redbox Instant by Verizon, Vudu, and YuppTV.
Sony's previous game console models are the PSone, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 in various sizes.
