‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Spoiler: Film To Feature Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops Origin Stories?

| By

Bryan Singer's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" will bring to the spotlight the untold stories of the original X-men leaders: Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops.

According to a report from iSchoolGuide last month, producer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg confirmed that "Apocalypse" will be the culmination of the trilogy that started in "X-Men: First Class" in 2011 to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in 2014.

"The idea is that we've sort of reset the timeline after 'Days of Future Past' in some ways, and if not erased, certainly allowed for change from 'X1,' '2' and '3,' everything from 'Days of Future Past' forward, 1973, everything we set now becomes canon," Kinberg said.

Cinema Blend, in its report, confirmed that "Apocalypse" will indeed introduce massive changes to the "X-Men" franchise and added that the upcoming film will feature origin stories the fans have not seen yet. In its interview with Michael Dougherty, the "Apocalypse" co-writer said that Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops will be exactly who they should be.

"I think they aren't changing as much as you're getting a peek into a portion of their lives you've simply never seen on the big screen. By the time you meet that trio at the beginning of 'X1' through 'X3,' they are exactly who you think they should be," Dougherty told Cinema Blend.

"Cyclops is the leader. Jean Grey is a confident woman, but is struggling with her powers, and Storm is this enigmatic weather goddess. But we've never seen the characters at the earlier stages in their lives, at this very sort of raw and not yet formed period," he added.

Already revealed during the San Diego Comic Con are the younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops to be portrayed by Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp and Ty Sheridan respectively; they will join Professor X (James McAvoy), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Havok (Lucas Till) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), along with younger versions of Jubilee (Lana Condor), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

The San Diego Comic Con footage, as highlighted by Cinema Blend, teased about Jean Grey having visions about the coming of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) and Storm ending up in Apocalypse's Four Horsemen, along with Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Angel (Warren Worthington III) and Psylocke.
