The Flash just got two consecutive surprise in the last few minutes of the CW Network show's latest episode. (Watch out for "The Flash" season 2 spoilers)
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) put his inhibitions to rest regarding his feelings for Patty Spivot. Standing from the window of a cafe where his colleague was eating, the Scarlet Speedster thought it is time to grab the opportunity to be happy with her.
Little did he know that from the back was King Shark, another metahuman from Earth-2 who grabbed him by the neck and slammed him on the pavement.
Patty saw what went down and rush to help the Scarlet Speedster but of course, she can do nothing about the monster. Good thing, a good samaritan was there who took down King Shark with a meta human gun he stole from the laboratory earlier. To Barry's surprise, that samaritan wears a familiar face. He is the Earth-2 version of Harrison Wells.
So much with Harrison Wells because everyone knows he will return in upcoming episodes and Tom Cavanagh is still a regular cast. The specific "The Flash" season 2 spoiler some fans want to know is if King Shark will appear again. If he existed in Earth-2, does that mean there is an Eath-1 version of him?
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg hinted there might be a King Shark lurking around Central City or nearby cities.
"It was just fun for us, because obviously we can't afford to do an entire King Shark episode, so the idea that he's one of Zoom's minions," Kreisberg said in an interview with Comicbook.com.
"He said, 'Zoom sent me here to kill you.' He's just the latest in another line, which does mean that there is a King Shark on Earth-1, now that we've designed him."
King Shark is originally a Superboy villain and appeared in "The Flash: Season Zero" comics version. He was also rumored to be the big bad in upcoming DC movie "Suicide Squad" which features some of the company's most popular villains.
Kreisberg also revealed they had doubts in bringing in King Shark but when one of the EPs, Todd Hebling, brought up the idea, he and the design team got excited even if it means spending big budget for a 30-second exposure of King Shark.
"Our visual effects team are the best and they really love challenges like this," Kreisberg said.
"We're like, 'Can we do King Shark?' Armen Kevorkian, who is the head of our team, got so excited. It was probably the thing that he sent me the most, 'Check it out. Here's how it's coming.' I literally can't believe that. That's beyond feature quality. They realize it so well."
The show returns next week for episode called "The Darkness and the Light."
