After Halle Berry and her husband, Olivier Martinez announced that they are filing for divorce after two years of being married, details of what went wrong between the couple have started to surface.
On Oct. 27, Tuesday, Halle Berry and her husband said in a joint statement that their decision to file for divorce was mutual and was meant for the good of their baby, Maceo.
"It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce," the joint statement read. "We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son,"
"We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children's privacy as we go through this difficult period," the couple said.
Although Halle Berry and her soon-to-be ex-husband Olivier Martinez have decided to divorce, their relationship remains amicable, People Magazine reported.
Since their announcement, the couple have remained mum on the subject. However, several reports now claim that the Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have actually been separated for a while prior to their decision to divorce.
"They had an incredibly passionate bond with one another, but with that comes big highs and lows," said a source for E! Online. "They fell madly in love with one another, but at times, it did feel like everything was against them,"
"Whether it was Halle's difficult relationship with (Nahla's father), Gabriel (Aubrey), which caused a huge amount of upset for the two of them, or geographical issues," the source added.
Martinez, who is French, reportedly didn't like being with Halle in the U.S. because he couldn't deal with the craziness that comes with her fame.
"Olivier loves France, he wanted to be in Paris, he was not a fan of the paparazzi attention that came with being with the relationship," the source alleged. "He felt that if they lived in Europe, they would have a lot more privacy. Being here with Halle felt like they were living in a fish bowl."
Meanwhile, Halle Berry and Olivier are now reportedly seeking joint custody over their 2-year-old baby, Maceo.
