While many are hoping that Tool will release a new album, it seems like Maynard James Keenan is done with the band and even its fans.
For their first and probably the only performance they will have this year, members of Tool is going to get together at Monster Mash Music Festival in Tempe, Arizona.
And while the said performance sparked fans' desire to hear new music from the band, Tool's frontman seemed to have dissed the band's fans in an interview with David Accomazzo of the Phoenix New Times as reported by Consequence of Sound.
"But as with any time he's asked about Tool, his answers quickly become curt," Accomazzo described Keenan's reaction when asked. "A hint of exasperation creeps into his voice and he exhales heavily through his nose."
"Yeah, it's there, but people miss it because they're so focused on the other bullshit." Keenan answered. "It's lost. Insufferable people ... It's just ridiculous, retards. I'm sorry. Can't help them. Way too serious. Too much. Lighten up."
Additionally, Keenan admitted that the rest of Tool band members "had to con me into" playing the Monster Mash performance.
And when asked about the possibility of a new album, Keenan simply replied, "There's nothing to say. I can't."
And while Maynard James Keenan did not seem to want to do anything with Tool, he seemed very determined to make new music with his other band Puscifer.
In an interview with Blabbermouth, the 51-year-old musician talked about the details of Puscifer's new album called "Money Shot," adding that they are also doing a music video for it.
"Tossing out a few more cryptic Luchador-flavored bread crumbs with this one," the Tool singer said of his other band, Puscifer's new album and video. "Confused? Don't tweak your noodle. As with all of PUSCIFER's and Billy D's journeys, linear has no place here. Just embrace the chaos and enjoy the ride."
