Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez had recently announced that they are getting divorced. The couple had decided to split up after two years of marriage.
"It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce," the couple said in a joint statement, Tuesday.
"We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son," the statement read. "We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children's privacy as we go through this difficult period."
According to a source for People Magazine, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez ended the relationship amicably.
"They are keeping it amicable now. She is okay," the source said.
Rumors about Berry and Martinez started a few months ago when the actress was spotted without her wedding ring. The couple had not been seen out together since February 2015, which further fueled gossip of their forthcoming break-up.
Although Halle Berry and her husband Olivier Martinez have not divulged details of their failed marriage and why they filed for divorce, some websites claim that it was mainly due to Martinez' horrible temper.
"Halle is telling pals she worries that Olivier's runaway temper could put her kids at risk. They've just been delaying the inevitable split," Celeb Dirty Laundry reported.
"The couple hasn't lived under the same roof in a very long time," an insider for Radar Online said back in August. "Olivier spends much of his free time in France, and hates living in Los Angeles."
Meanwhile, in an interview with E! News in July, the "X-Men" actress seemed to have forgotten about her second wedding anniversary with Martinez.
"Thank you for reminding me," Halle Berry said. "I gotta get something fast. I gotta get something fast. Wow, two years. That's big for me,"
Halle Berry is reportedly living in Hollywood Hills with her two children while her soon-to-be ex-husband lives in Malibu.
Halle Berry and her husband met on the set of Dark Tide in 2010. After three years of dating, the couple decided to get married on July 13, 2013 while the actress was pregnant.
