Ridley Scott Plans Multiple Sequels For ‘Prometheus 2,’ Teases Films’ Link To ‘Alien’

| By

Director Ridley Scott, in a recent interview with German movie website FilmFutter, revealed that he plans to expand the "Prometheus" franchise and that in the process, the upcoming sequels will cross with "Alien."

It was previously reported that the sequel to "Prometheus" will not be called "Prometheus 2" but will be officially titled "Alien: Paradise Lost" and production will start in January 2016. The new official title had fans speculating about the "Prometheus"-"Alien" link.

FilmFutter asked Scott about a certain scene where the Engineer ship that carried xenomorph embryos with it crashed into LV-426 and clarified if the next film would finally present a clear connection between "Prometheus" and "Alien."

"Yes, but it won't be the next one. It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise... The whole point of it is to explain Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself," Scott replied, suggesting that there would be several sequels to "Prometheus 2" and not just a trilogy.

"I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that the original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction," the director added.

MoviePilot, in its report, highlighted that with Neill Blomkapm's "Alien 5" also in the works, bringing the story back to the "Alien" origin may have to wait longer, further affirming that the "Alien" and "Prometheus" crossover will definitely happen yet in Ridley Scott's "Alien: Paradise Lost" ("Prometheus 2").

Meanwhile, /Film reported that "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" star Rebecca Ferguson is eyed by Scott for the lead in "Alien: Paradise Lost." The film, which is schedules to be released on May 20, 2017, will be penned by Michael Green and Jack Paglen and will be co-produced by David Giler and Walter Hill.
