While Naughty Dog has yet to officially announce "The Last of Us" movie adaptation, the game's voice actor Nolan North previously revealed that together with the game's sequel a movie is definitely happening.
And in line with the movie comes news that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is going to play the role of Ellie in the movie adaptation.
While it hasn't been confirmed yet, the 18-year-old star told Screen Rant how she badly wants to appear in "The Last of Us" movie.
"Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment," she explained. "There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."
Williams even claimed that she already had meetings with the execs of the film, claiming that there's a big possibility for her to play Ellie.
"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to," Williams previously admitted. "They announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it."
And while news about the movie adaptation grow rampant, Naughty Dog is still reportedly very busy with "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
Neil Druckmann previously told Slash Film that while he's thinking about the movie, he needs to work on "Uncharted 4" first.
"When I'm in the office it's all Uncharted 4 all the time," he said. "When I should be sleeping, it's the [Last of Us] movie."
And while he can't confirm any details yet, Druckmann did confirm that there are already a pool of actors being auditioned for the role of Ellie and Joel.
"I just finished the second draft and we did a table read with a bunch of actors and that's where we're at."
While Maisie Williams is most likely confirmed to play the role of Ellie, according to Digital Spy, there are a number of actors vying for the role of Joel, which include Dylan McDermott, Hugh Jackman and Gerard Butler are reportedly being eyed to play the role of Joel.
"It was announced sort of prematurely almost in that I would love to play Ellie, they would love me to play Ellie," she said. "There's no film happening at this very second, so I cannot play Ellie right at this very minute. But when that comes around - if and when that comes around - I'll be here."
