Amir Khan Trying To Be Big Fish Is Reason Why He Lost Pacman For Next Fight

| By

There is no definite date yet for Amir Khan's next fight. Worse, he is yet to find an opponent.

The British boxer's next gig is supposed to be against Manny Pacquiao. However, talks collapsed as Khan accused Pacman's camp of stalling.

MMA fighter BJ Flores has a completely opposite view why Amir Khan's fight against Manny Pacquiao did not come into fruition. He thinks it is Khan who should be blamed why it won't happen. He believes the former Olympian tried to hard in dictating the terms.

"I think the main thing is that Amir is a very good fighter but he's gotta remember against Floyd and against Manny," Flores told On The Ropes with Robert Brown.

"He's the B side, so it doesn't always happen on his terms. When they're ready to decide when it is, then he's gotta sit back and play cool and not make it like he's the one controlling everything because he's not."

Flores also thinks Khan was too aggressive in getting the fight with Manny Pacquiao.

"Manny fights who he wants to fight and Floyd fights who he wants to fight. Amir is on the B side trying to act like he gets to make all the decisions and that's his prerogative if he wants to but I think he's cost himself some fights by doing that, by jumping the gun a little early."

The cruiserweight fighter went on to give an advice to Amir Khan.

"Sometimes you want to be the biggest fish in your own pond and you really don't want any debate about that, you just want to be the big fish," he said. I think Amir Khan is trying to not recognize the talent and the abilities that Kell Brook has coming up and he just doesn't even want to give him a pay day to make that."

A few months ago, Amir Khan openly challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his next fight. When the undefeated American boxer retired, he turned to Manny Pacquiao. Both camps claimed discussions were going great until earlier this month, Khan got tired of waiting.

"I'm really disappointed in Manny and his team," Khan told The National newspaper. "They aren't playing ball. All that was left to do is to sign the contract. But they are stalling.

"I have pulled out of the negotiations. I am no longer fighting Manny Pacquiao. I am not going to wait around for Manny like I did for Mayweather. I need to fight and if they don't want to fight then that's fine, I have other targets."
