‘Harry Potter And The Cursed Child’ To Highlight Father And Son Relationship? Is It A Sequel?

| By

Potterheads have long been writing fan fiction about the next generation of wizards and witches in Hogwarts and it looks like they will get what they finally want in "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child."

When JK Rowling first broke the news that a play is in production to explore another aspect of the Boy Who Lived's life, everyone assumed that it would be a prequel for the seven book.. With the mention of Lily and James Potter, Harry's parents, fans quickly thought that the play would indeed tell a story that happened before the boy wizard's time in Hogwarts.

Instead of going back in time, however, the play will reportedly follow Harry's life nineteen years after defeating Voldemort. Is it an official sequel then?

As fans know, the book series ended with Harry sending off his sons James and Albus to school on Platform 9 ¾ accompanied by his wife, Ginny (his best friend, Ron Weasley's youngest sister).

"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children," Rowling shared the synopsis of "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" through her website.

"While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted."

Set in two parts, the play will not only show an aged Harry, it will also feature the next generation, namely his son Albus Severus, who was named after two of the greatest Hogwarts headmasters that Harry has ever known.

"As past and present fuse ominously both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places," the synopsis continued.

Can't wait to watch "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" in London's West End next year? Fans can purchase tickets as soon as next week, according to Metro.
