NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Star Nick Young Might See Himself Away From Staples Center This Season

| By

The Los Angeles Lakers has just dropped Jonathan Holmes from the line up to trim down the roster.

Needless to say, the current squad is not yet final. Recent NBA trade rumors suggest the team might lose one of its better scorers this season.

Grantland wrote small forward Nick Young might be shipped to New Orleans Pelicans who just lost Tyreke Evans from injury.

"The league is so poor on wings who can shoot 3s and adequately defend both shooting guards and small forwards that I could see a team like New Orleans talking itself into Nick Young - even with Young's deal running three more seasons," the sports and entertainment website wrote.

There was no legit NBA trade rumor concerning Nick Young in recent time and some Pelicans fans thought Grantland's article make a good move for their team.

"Nick Young is definitely a player on the block what with the Lakers' new acquisitions D'Angelo Russell (2nd overall pick in the 2015 Draft) and Lou Williams, former Sixth Man of the Year," Yibada wrote about the suggestion.

"If the injury situation for the Pelicans worsens, they may send one of their forwards (Dante Cunningham, Quincy Poindexter) or a pick to the LA for Swaggy P to fulfill one of the 'crazy predictions.'"

Nick Young will be one of the main guys in Lakers' offense this season. His three-point shooting will be vital for the team which now has solid point guards in D'Angelo Russell and Marcelo Huertas who can definitely set up their shooting guards.

Kobe Bryant, who shut down himself from rest of pre-season, is expected to be the main man but he will still need all the support that he can get.

Earlier this month, Nick Young expressed his doubt whether he will stay at Staples Center although he did not specify which was the source of NBA trade rumors about him.

"It was confusing. It was motivating," Young said in an interview with Los Angeles Daily News. "I didn't know if I would be here."

Instead, he focused on working himself out on the gym and be on the same page with coach Byron Scott.

"Me and Byron are good, but I'm using it as motivation," Young said. "I'm just trying to do my part and stay alive. I'm trying to do everything he tells me to do. Anything I got to do to stay out there on the court."
