Babies from a brazilian wandering spider were found on a columbian banana in a britian grocery store and was almost consumed by a mother of two children United Press International reported Tuesday.
"I was scared," Consi Taylor told The Sun."I got halfway through the banana when I saw something white on the skin. I thought it was mold. But when I had a closer look I saw some funny looking spots, and was horrified to see they were spiders. They were hatching out on the table, scurrying around on my carpet. I was so scared I cried."
Taylor who has two children, and husband named Richard had to stay in a hotel for three nights so their home could be disinfected. Sainsbury, the maker of the bananas covered the $1,600 cost of the accommodations, and the cleanup.
"We're very sorry and have apologized to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor," a spokesman for the supermarket said in a statement United Press International reported. "We do have rigorous controls on imported products at all stages -- from harvesting to transportation -- which is why this is so rare." Sainsbury originally attempted to only fund the family for the cost of the bananas.
The family also brought their clothes to the cleaners for dry cleaning. However, Taylor fears that she will see another spider in her home.
"The pest control people said every living thing in our house is now dead, but I'm still terrified one is still alive," Taylor told The Daily Mail. "I'd never heard of Brazilian wandering spiders before all this and I can't imagine what it would be like facing a fully grown one. I was trembling and shaking inside when I found out what they can do to you. We kill every spider we see in the house now. We used to use a postcard and paper cup and carry them outside and put them in the garden, but we're killing them all now for our safety and sanity. I still like bananas very much, but I can't put my hand near them in the shop any more, so my husband has to buy them for me now."
According to The New York Daily News, brazilian wandering spiders have the deadliest poison on planet Earth.
The spider's poison is strong enough to make a person unable to move their muscles, and breathe normally.
