'Harry Potter' Star Daniel Radcliffe Talks Masturbation & Being An Atheist ‘D*ck’

| By

Daniel Radcliffe had his fair share of wand-waving on the set of the "Harry Potter" films, which he did in a span of 10 years.

However, off-cam and all by himself, the actor became very candid about a different kind of wand-waving - something that all teenage boys do when they're exploring their sexuality.

"I was like every other teenager in that sense," Radcliffe admitted when asked whether his teenage life "revolved around finding a chance to masturbate" in an interview with Playboy Magazine.

"My favorite line about masturbation is Louis C.K.'s something like 'I found out about it when I was 11, and I didn't skip a day'," the actor added. "I started very early - before my teens,"

However, the 26-year-old "Harry Potter" alum said that he didn't masturbate while on set.

"I wasn't going, 'When is Alan Rickman going to nail this scene so I can run back to my trailer?" Daniel Radcliffe said. "There's another feeling, again perfectly described by Louis C.K. -- that fear just after you've jerked off that everyone knows what you did,"

In 2009, Radcliffe admitted he was an atheist.

"I'm an atheist but I'm very relaxed about it," he said in an interview. "I don't preach my atheism, but I have a huge amount of respect for people like Richard Dawkins who do."

However during his Playboy interview, Radcliffe said he also identifies as a Jew.

"The last Jewish thing I did was visit my grandmother. Does that count?" Radcliffe laughed. "My mom's Jewish, my dad is Protestant. We were terrible Jews. I grew up with a Christmas tree. We eat bacon."

The actor also talked about being friends with people on-set, shooting down their perceptions that he was a typical, pompous ex-child star.

"When I did my first non-Potter film, 'December Boys,' I became good friends with one of the makeup and hair teams," he recounted. "After a few weeks, I said, 'So, honestly, what did you expect when you were going to get me?' And they said, 'We thought you were going to be a dick,'"

"Because that's the notion people have in their heads of child stars," Radcliffe said. "People expect me to be an absolute a****le. And when I'm not, that always plays in my favor,"

Aside from being known as "Harry Potter," Daniel Radcliffe is also lauded for his on-stage roles in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" and "Equus" as well as his indie film projects like "Kill Your Darlings." He is currently promoting his new film, "Victor Frankenstein."
